William Bowers

William Bowers was a reporter in Long Beach, California and Life magazine reporter before becoming a screenwriter. He specialized in writing comedy westerns and also turned out several thrillers. Bowers served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II in the Civilian Pilot Training Program. Bowers later wrote the screenplay for "The Last Time I Saw Archie" based on his experiences, with Jack Webb playing Bowers.
