In 2019, less than a year after the release of "X 100PRE", his first studio album (which ends with what would become the global hit "Mía", feat with Drake), Bad Bunny was experiencing the euphoria of his first European tour. It was on the other side of the Atlantic that he followed, from a distance, a scandal that would shake the politics of his native island, after messages from then-governor Ricardo Rosselló and his team were leaked. Among sexist and homophobic comments, there were statements such as "I saw the future, it's so wonderful, there are no Puerto Ricans". Benito did not hesitate: he announced the postponement of the concerts so that he could return home to join the demonstrations that took the streets of San Juan for more than two weeks and would culminate in the resignation of the governor.
