The album resonated deep in the hearts of the people of Puerto Rico. One resident told us, for example, of verses like those in "La Mudanza," when Benito sings, "If I die tomorrow, I hope they never forget my face. And that they put on a song of mine the day they bring Hostos" โ explaining that Hostos is Eugenio Marรญa de Hostos, an educator and important defender of Puerto Rico's national sovereignty, who died in 1903 and was buried in the Dominican Republic, who, as a final wish, asked for his remains to be taken back to his native island only when it gained independence.
Talking to an app driver, he said that, for him, the most exciting thing was to recognize in Benito's songs the sounds that his grandparents, his parents and he grew up listening to. On this, the star reflects: "A lot of people from outside don't know bomba, salsa and plena, and even here, young people didn't pay so much attention anymore. Rhythmically, we are very rich. You can make modern, cool, sensual, disco music with these rhythms".
