Died in 2023. Commander of Apollo 8 in December 1968, he was among the first three men with James Lovell (one of the few to have gone to the moon
with Apollo 8 & 13) and Williams Anders to see with their own eyes the hidden part of the moon. Borman and Anders will never return to space; they might have gone to the moon if the Apollo missions were not stopped after Apollo 17 (20 missions were initially planned) Lovell, (with Fred Haise) will not be able to set foot on the moon because of the accident of Apollo 13. Fred Haise will still pilot the shuttle (never launched) Enterprise which was dropped by a specially adapted Boeing 747; Enterprise only planned and landed. Apollo 8 astronauts celebrated Christmas 1968 in lunar orbit; they cited the beginning of Genesis.
