“People laughed at me when I said I wanted to bring the glamour back to Hollywood," says LWren Scott, in her Hollywood Hills tropical garden in a manner reminiscent of Marlene Dietrich. Everything about the 6-foot-3 Scott reeks of an Old World bohemian style. Her house, once occupied by writer Charles Bukowski, drips with fringed shawls and needlepoint bags, is lit by candles and smells of incense-in the middle of a sunny LA day. Scott is decked out in long pants, a burgundy T-shirt, a Moroccan print shawl draped around the pants and a violet pashmina shawl across her shoulders. “Honey, if I could wear couture every day and big jewels, I would," she laughs, describing her esthetic of excess.
While Scott's career in fashion has run the gamut from Paris model to Hollywood stylist, most recently she
was introduced to the world when three women wore her label — which reads, "L’Wren Scott: Made in Hollywood" ー to this year's Academy Awards festivities: Renee Zellwegger, Mariah Carey and Ellen Barkin, who attended the parties afterward.
