BACKSTAGE: L’Wren Scott’s SS 2009 collection which was entitled, ‘Zephyr’ was shown at the Gagosian Gallery in New York on September the 12th, 2009.
—— Ms. Scott experienced a windstorm whilst designing, and so the name ‘Zephyr’ seemed fitting as a tribute to the Greek God of Wind. Meenal Minstry reported for Vogue Runway, “the collection had Scott's typical rock 'n' roll elegance, complete with dolly-bird hair and tilted lace fedoras, the latter a collaboration with @stephenjonesmillinery . The stylist-turned-designer is now in her fifth season, and her message rings ever more confidently and clearly, as evidenced by numbers like a romantic black plissé dress with white lace shoulders and an almost whimsical "globule" lace shift.”
—— The dress that L’Wren Scott wore to the 2009 Vanity Fair Oscar Party (which now belongs in the archive, pictured here on the last slide), was a variation of the Ivory dress (slide 3) in the collection. It was not uncommon for L’Wren to make variations of her favorite dresses for herself to wear to events.
—— You will also notice that L’Wren was sitting front row and watching her own presentation (slide 2). This was common for her in the earlier seasons but L’Wren would change this practice by FW 2010. Additionally, this presentation was rather special as there were two original tracks written for the show by L’Wren Scott’s partner, Mick Jagger — One track was titled, ‘Fly, My Sweet Angel.’ The tracks were only recorded to be heard that day and were never intended to be released.
