The Story of Albert…
Albert is a young man who lives a lonely and solitary life. One of his greatest joys is spending his days reading novels in the local library. He enjoys the solace it offers him and the escape from his mundane existence. Besides reading his second pass time consists of losing himself within his daydreams. He daydreams of meeting someone he can share a deep love with. A phantom of a feeling within himself aches that he had such a love once but he can never understand why. He’s never had anyone special in his life. He’s sought out women before but each one lead to him feeling nothing but dejected in the end. Albert finds himself emotionally empty after yet another failed attempt at love leaves him alone once again.
He falls into depression and lies in his bed staring up at the ceiling for days until his cousin Sydney pays him a visit in hopes to cheer him up and brings him a gift. He brings the gift into his room and low and behold it’s an old television set. Albert, preferring written word over visual stories, reluctantly accepts the television. Later that night Albert is awoken to the television set brightly illuminating his room with a warm glow. Upon the screen, a tropical paradise is seen. A young woman with fiery red hair sits upon a wooden beach chair looking out upon the bay of crystal clear water. He becomes captivated by her and can’t take his eyes off the screen. She turns around and begins to speak to him. There’s something so familiar about her. A nostalgic feeling envelops him.
“What’s your name?”, he asks her.
Smiling she responds, “My name is Elly.”
It’s January 1998…Albert is about to embark on a journey of self-discovery that will reveal secrets within himself that he’d long since forgotten. It’s going to be a year that will change his life forever.
