Review of The Mysterious Dreams

The first chapter is hilarious! One is pulled into a simple middle-class family’s life trying to retain their culture in a changing, happening area. Light is thrown on the emotions of the ladies of the sixties and seventies who were still on the threshold of professional life and seemed apologetic and shy about their individuality. I liked the Hare Krishna part of Chris’ life. Religion is beautifully explained here. I learnt quite a bit. The sadhu’s explanations are very convincing. The book is a must read for the young generation. It does not take sides and treats everyone’s problems and woes with equality. The part where the lady dreams about her mother’s death sequence is extremely touching. Imagination runs high in this book. The author is able to beautifully capture the emotions of a young adolescent girl and the changes in her thinking and character as she grows up and encounters life. A hippie life can only be imagined and this book has delved into the psyche of a hippie with expertise. I hope the dream mystery continues ………wanna read the sequel soon!
