Review of The Private Lives of Pippa Lee

The story is told in parallel, reflecting the now grown up Pippa Lee as well as the former young Pippa Sarkissian (her maiden name), told by herself. She reflects on her childhood, especially her pills addicted mother that tried to maintain a normal family life and a very active social life. In her late teens -- as many of her peers at the time -- she lived as a hippie, getting to know a man during that time at one of the many parties. Herb, married to a wealthy woman, unable to fight their mutual attraction to Pippa eventually started an affair with her. During a lifechanging event involving Herb's wife, Pippa decides to become a new woman and no longer take any drugs or be anything she used to be during her light life as a hippie.
