A good movie

In my opinion, ‘Festen’ was and is a great masterpiece and it is definitely one of my all-time favorites. So, for many years, I was wondering what Thomas Vinterberg would do next and when I heard he was finally coming up with a new directing effort, I really had to watch the damned thing. Apparently, he spent 5 years on this international production which cost no less than $10 millions and it was eventually barely noticed when released receiving some rather abysmal reviews in the process. To be honest, I didn’t know all this before watching this. Indeed, I just saw it was directed by Vinterberg and I thought it was awesome that he was coming up with an ambitious international production after his sober Dogma effort. Sure, I have to admit it, the whole thing was pretty messy and it was so murky, it was almost impossible to follow. And yet, I thought there was something still strange and mesmerizing about the whole thing. I don’t know, maybe I should check it out again at some point to make up my mind for good about the damned thing. Anyway, to conclude, there is a fair chance that my rating might be too high on this one but I still think it is worth a look, especially if you are interested in Thomas Vinterberg’s work.
