FIRST IMPRESSIONS
This is the best kind of Batman story: pitting him against a similar but homicidal opponent. It's all summed up in the line where Batman explains that there isn't a day that goes by where he doesn't want to kill the Joker, but he won't because he knows that once he crosses that line, he can never go back. Also, I don't often feel the need to comment on the animation in these movies, but it's absolutely top-notch here โ some of the best I've ever seen in Batman's animated line-up. On top of that, it's a brilliantly written story that I've have to run through in its entirety to properly justify its impact โ but obviously I won't do that. :) Overall, this is probably my second-favourite of the animated Batman movies, behind only Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.
