Review of Tales of Symphonia

Tales of Symphonia... I cannot begin to describe how amazing this game is to me. Lets just start by saying the following: I consider this one of the best console RPGS I have ever played. To this day I could load it up, play it, and it would still hold up against the other games out right now.

You start the game off as Lloyd, a human boy who is raised by a dwarf in a small village. You go to class, you meet your friends Genis (who is a GENIUS hur hur) and Collette, the next Chosen.

The game starts off with your typical religious pilgrimage to save the world journey, where Lloyd and a band of people escort Collette to these various elemental towers, where she must open the seals.

After you open the last seal however is when things take a strange turn. I won't spoil it for you but the game takes a VERY distinct turn here and changes the game, as it were.

The combat is handled in a vein like Street Fighter and other 2d fights. You control your selected person, while the rest are either controlled via the AI (its not terrible to be honest) or up to 3 friends (party RPG? :O) You actually run around on the screen, jump, attack, block, and pull off special moves as if you were playing a fighting game. Its very addictive and fun. The bosses are not pushovers by a longshot, and of course once you beat the game you have a New Game + option.

This game is everything an RPG player needs to enjoy himself. A great story with plenty of twists and turns, likable characters, and great music. Along with an excellent combat system that never feels grindy (at least to me)

10/10. If you love RPGS you need to play this.
