It was yet again another movie I had on dvd for ages (more than 3 and a half years as a matter of fact...) so I was really eager to check this flick just to get rid off the damned thing. Well, to be honest, I had an incredibly hard time to connect with the whole thing. I donโt know, even though it wasnโt really late, I was really tired and I really had to fight not to fall asleep. On the other hand, I don't think it was really good though. I mean, I always had a weak spot for Guy Pearce and Helena Bonham Carter and I thought that they did a decent job but, to be honest, I didn't care much for the whole story. Apparently, I have seen the international cut constantly switching between some flashbacks and the present time when the original Australian version was actually linear so maybe I was unlucky and watched something butchered but I have my doubts. Basically, the whole premise was just too fine and I got bored pretty quickly. To conclude, it is pretty obscure but I donโt think it deserves really much more recognition and I think you should pretty much pass on this one.
