An average movie

I had some rather low expectations concerning this movie but since I have a weak spot for Jennifer Connelly, I still wanted to check it out. First of all, I haven't seen the original movie so I can't compare them but I don't think this remake was that bad, at least the first time I watched it. Indeed, there were a lot of good ideas and it's a shame that they decided to not develop those ideas and instead put all their energy, time, attention in a big budget extravaganza. But you can say whatever you want about Keanu Reeves and his wooden acting but it is because of it that he was the perfect casting choice to play Klatuu. Unfortunately, Jennifer Connelly didn't have much to do except being the usual helpless beautiful female scientist. And the sub-plot involving her step-son was even more annoying but I don't think we should blame Jaden Smith. Eventually, I thought the conclusion was rather underwhelming and unconvincing and I don't think humanity will ever be able to change like they argue in this movie (just check what happened to the Aztecs, the Romans,...) even when we will be on the edge of total destruction. Still, like I said before, the whole thing looked pretty good and it was actually entertaining so I think it is worth a a look. Now, I really want to watch the original version...
