A very good movie

I already saw this movie but since it was a while back, I was really eager to check it out again. First of all, you can say whatever you want about Hilary Swank but she was really amazing in this movie. I mean, back then, she basically came out of nowhere and completely blew us away with her breakthrough performance and she deservedly won an Oscar for her work. Unfortunately, it's too bad that, except for ‘Million Dollar Baby’, she usually picked up some rather disappointing movies after that. Anyway, Swank was not the only good thing concerning this movie though. Indeed, this story was really heartbreaking and the directing was very good as well. On top of that, it was also a beautiful love story but we live in an ignorant and intolerable world and this love tale didn't last and did end up with a terribly deprissing outcome. Concerning Kimberly Peirce, the promising director of this impressive first feature, unfortunately, she has managed to make only one movie in the following 13 years ('Stop-Loss' which definitely had some potential but it was still a failure). It is a real shame since she seems to be really talented. Anyway, it is a very good drama based on a heartbreaking true story and if you don't mind getting depressed while watching a movie, it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
