Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from this movie but since I have a weak spot for Zooey Deschanel, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, obviously, it turned out to be a big mistake... I mean, seriously, I don't know who thought that DJ Qualls had enough star power to become a lead character in a movie but that was a really terrible idea. Sure, you could argue that it was refreshing to have an average looking guy to play the lead in a high-school comedy for once but I just couldn’t care less for this guy and, above all, the plot was rather abysmal and seriously underwhelming. I mean, on one hand, it used most of the usual annoying stereotypes in this genre and, on the other hand, the whole thing was just so convoluted, as a result, the whole thing was just rather cringe-inducing to behold. Concerning Zooey Deschanel, she was pretty much starting her career at the time, so, who could blame her for showing up in such lame high-school comedy? Apparently, it didn’t hurt her career and she eventually became one of the most interesting actresses of her generation. To conclude, I thought it was a really lame movie and you should probably avoid it.
