A very good movie

Since I kept hearing some great things about this flick, I was really eager to check it out and I had some rather high expectations. Eventually even though it didn’t turn out to be one of my all-time favorites, I still have to admit that I really did like it a lot though. Basically, in my opinion, the plot and the characters were not really original, preventing this movie from becoming a real masterpiece, but it was still really entertaining.  Above all, what I really enjoyed was the cast filled many actors who were unknown at the time but all became pretty famous after showing up in this movie (Ben Affleck, Milla Jovovich, Matthew McConaughey, Joey Lauren Adams, Parker Posey, Renée Zellweger, ...). For Linklater, this movie would be his breakthrough and for the next 20 years, he would become one of the more consistent US directors. In this movie, he would show that he would provide his best work when there is no actual plot, rather focusing on some realistic characters instead (see also the ‘Before…’ trilogy and ‘Boyhood’). To conclude, it is pretty much a classic and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
