Review of The Hospital

So I went to a horror festival and two of the guests Jim O'Rear and Scott Tepperman were there. These guys are well known for being involved in many micro-budget, cheese-fest, horror films a few of which I have heard of or seen. Anyways I decided to check this one out because they said it was one of their most disturbing ones, but they had a great time filming it. Also the fact that this is banned in several countries grabbed my attention because I find it hilarious that people can be so offended. It kind of seems like a pilot for a super cheesy low budget television series for a midnight channel. The Hospital theme song is ridiculous, but for some reason it's kind of catchy and makes me laugh. The acting is laughable and it kind of made me giggle. There were a few points of noticeably poor editing. Some of the girls are nice to look at and others not so much. Rape is a horrible and disgusting thing, but it should be expected as a plot device in horror occasionally. That doesn't make this a comfortable thing to watch though. It is far from easy to watch and should be avoided if you have a weak stomach. It definitely feels very snuff like. There are some pretty sick ideas out there and sometimes they get their ideas out there. Coming from someone who met the actors I can easily separate their behavior from this film. They are genuinely nice guys and nowhere near the disgusting characters portrayed here. Isn't that what acting is anyways. Unfortunately this kind of movie isn't the kind I appreciate or even enjoy, but there are elements here and there I kind of liked. The death scenes are hilariously awful such as a guy who randomly runs down a hallway and gets decapitated by a wire or a guy getting shot by his buddy and calmly says "You shot me bro." I think there are some unexpected little twists here and there. It kind of reminded me of Deliverance, I Spit on Your Grave, and something like Texas Chainsaw Massacre making it quite uncomfortable to sit through. This was such a vile movie with very little to no redeeming factors. I mean it tries to be goofy, disgusting, and not take itself seriously at all. I have no words for that ending. If you are sick and twisted check into The Hospital otherwise this is the complete opposite of worth watching.
