A good movie

I’m not really sure how famous Claire Denis is abroad but she has definitely built up a decent career in France. Anyway, this time, she came up with something completely different. Indeed, she usually makes some really realistic features but, here, she made a really bleak and weird vampire feature. Inderdaad, even though it was dealing with vampires, it was still something else than your usual Dracula or even ‘Twilight’ and there was definitely something quite spellbinding about the whole thing. The cast was also really intriguing, including Béatrice Dalle and Vincent Gallo, two of the most notorious actors from both sides of the Atlantic. To be honest, the second time I watched it, I was not completely blown away though. Basically, there is a deliberate slow pace and there is not really a plot which made the whole thing quite mesmerizing but also rather frustrating sometimes. Indeed, rather often, you get some rather weird scenes with no explanation whatsoever and you wonder sometimes what the hell was actually going on. The first time, it didn’t bother me at all but the second time around, it made me rather restless. Anyway, in spite of its flaws, it remains a really intriguing flick and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you want to see a really different vampire feature.
