Review of Annabelle

Okay so I actually liked The Conjuring and thought it was really interesting. I remember seeing the Annabelle doll and thinking it was one creepy looking thing. Then I saw they were planning a spin-off centered around the creepy doll and knew I wanted to see it. I would like to see other things from The Conjuring get spin-offs too. I'm sure they all have an interesting story to tell. Although when I saw who the director is I have my doubts on it. I think they should have had James Wan direct this instead of some director who hasn't made anything good yet. Is it a coincidence or simply on purpose that the main actress has the same name as the doll? Anyways I'm still going to watch this to see what it has going for it. One thing I don't get is why people would ever buy such creepy looking dolls for anyone. I have to say the back story for how Annabelle was created is actually pretty intriguing. Although it's kind of a typical sort of story where the husband is never really home and therefore doesn't believe anything is happening. It unfortunately doesn't bring much new to the genre. The ending was kind of lame and cheesy. There were a few scenes that were truly creepy though, but most of relied on cheap jump scares. I have to say I was highly disappointed with this. It had so much potential and I was hyped up because the doll looked like it would be so twisted. It just fell short.
