Review of Young Ones

I remember seeing the trailer for this and being instantly intrigued by the concept of this post apocalyptic coming of age story. Hell this could even take place after The Road another movie that had starred Kodi Smit-McPhee but now all grown up. There are some great casting choices here although the cast itself isn't too big. It's an interesting bit of information I didn't realize from the trailer, but this is directed by Gwyneth Paltrow's little brother. The cinematography of such a desolate land is actually kind of beautiful. It's a wonder that even without water we can still be so technologically advanced. I mean there are some pretty nifty looking gadgets and such in this. Well it looks like Elle Fanning is trying to follow in her sisters footsteps and grow up too fast. I swear it's hard to find a character to like in this because everyone is so damaged. There are some pretty messed up scenes throughout that are quite unexpected. The acting is pretty good from everyone. I say this is one of Nicholas Hoults' best performances. It's a bittersweet movie for sure. I have to say that the ending was pretty good. I think some things should have been answered instead of being left in the wind. I think it's worth checking out at least once.
