I love me some Stephen King so I'm happy to see another of his stories on the silver screen! Joan Allen looks like a grandmother now, but she still looks quite ravishing. I think it would be a tough situation to deal with if after 25 years you found out the love of your life is a serial killer. There is no really big twists as we already know what the story is about. However, there are some details in the story that are unexpected. It's interesting to see how everything plays out. The acting is really great more so from Stephen Lang and Joan Allen.
There was a bit of controversy with this film because of it's inspiration. Stephen King used similarities with the BTK killer. So the daughter of the killer lashed out saying that Stephen King was trying to make cash and glorify her father with this film. However, upon actually seeing this film for myself I'm sure that the daughter was overreacting. The killer in this is a pathetic loser of a man who deserves no praise except that the actor does such a great job at being decidedly creepy. The wife however is a strong and brilliant character. I think if the BTK killer's daughter actually watched the movie she might actually enjoy it. Sometimes people are rash about things simply for content without even knowing the full of it.
It's an intense and somewhat disturbing thriller, but it by no means makes you enjoy or cheer for the killer. As usual Stephen King is a genius even when he does something more slow burning than usual. It's a good and interesting watch, but it doesn't have any major twists like you would expect. Anyways this would be a good addition to any Stephen King fans.
