If you think that Jim Carrey is a bad actor, you should really watch this movie (and 'The Truman Show' as well). Kate Winslet gave also a great performance and for a romantic story, I thought it was miles better than 'Titanic'. At least, you can't argue that it was a really innovative love story whereas 'Titanic' wasn't , even as classic as it can be. Above all, I thought that the directing and the story were amazing too and I think it is even one of the best movies ever made. Basically, it is one of a kind movie, a really far-out and surrealist romantic story and it was completely successful on every level. Ever since I watched this flick, I have been following Michel Gondry's career pretty closely and, unfortunately, even though he has made since then some interesting features, none of them ever reached that level of awesomeness. So far, in my opinion, with this movie, it is the only time that Gondry really managed to blend his amazing visual style with a great story. His other efforts were always visually impressive but the plot and/or the characters were always lacking something resulting in some decent movies but not much more than that, I'm afraid. Anyway, to conclude, I think it is a great flick, it is already a classic and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you are interested in Michel Gondry's work.
