I think it’s (still) the best movie of 2012

It’s a shame that ‘Brave’ won the Oscar, BAFTA and Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature when ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ is 100 times better, ‘Madagascar 3’ is better than ‘Brave’ and it wasn’t even nominated!

‘Wreck-It Ralph’ focuses on video game villain Ralph (John C. Reilly) who has been doing the same job for 30 years – wrecking a penthouse which Felix (Jack McBrayer) the title character fixes. The Nicelanders invite Felix to the penthouse while Ralph has to live in the garbage – smashed up bricks

After leaving the Bad-Anon Support Group (which involves real video game characters), Ralph discovers that the Nicelanders are celebrating the 30th anniversary of ‘Fix-It Felix Jr.’ and Gene (Raymond Persi) tells him that he’d have to win a medal to be able to live in the penthouse and Ralph takes this seriously and abandons his game and goes to ‘Hero’s Duty’ a fighting game. This leads the Nicelanders to realise that without Ralph, they wouldn’t exist either!

Ralph collects his medal at the top of the building (which his enormous hands can do) despite being bad at the game! He accidentally activates an egg of a Cy-Bug (the Cy-Bugs regenerate when attracted to light) and they end up in Sugar Rush

‘Wreck-It Ralph’ features a supporting cast including Vanellope (Sarah Silverman) a glitch/former racer in Sugar Rush and Calhoun (Jane Lynch) the leader of Hero’s Duty! It also features the villain King Candy (Alan Tudyk) who does a very good voiceover which earned him an Annie Award for Voice Acting In A Feature Production

At least ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ won the Annie Award for Best Animated Feature (hell, they nominated ‘Shark Tale’ for the Oscar but not the Annie) because I think it’s (still) the best movie of 2012

And I said earlier about real video game characters appearing in the movie including Pacman and Clyde (from ‘Pacman), Bowser (from ‘Super Mario Bros.), Sonic and Dr. Eggman (from ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’) and Ryu, Ken, M. Bison and Zangief (from ‘Street Fighter’), it’s funny how Zangief is part of the villain league here when his only villain role was in the crappy ‘Street Fighter’ movie (remember the awful one with Jean Claude-Van Damme)

‘Wreck-It Ralph’ features a clever story, funny characters, funny dialogue and other great things to make it only the second best animated movie ever (for now, ‘Toy Story 3’ is my favourite)
