An average movie

Before this movie was released, I thought it looked pretty neat and I almost went to see it with my kids at the movie theater. Eventually, it was apparently another underperforming CGI animated feature so I dropped the whole plan but, years later, someone brought us the dvd so I thought I should finally check it out. Well, eventually, I thought it was seriously underwhelming. Indeed, right from the lame introduction, you get to see a garden gnome wearing a mankini (obviously inspired by Borat) and from that moment, I pretty much knew what would be the level of this endeavor. Think pretty low. I mean, some other jokes did work but most of them were just very weak and, honestly, couldnโ€™t they pick up another story? By now, Romeo and Juliet has to be done to death (the last version starring Hailee Steinfeld was another resounding failure). At least, the animation was not bad, they did a pretty good work to make us believe that those gnomes were some real living little statues and you can have some fun trying to guess who voiced those little guys (James McAvoy, Emily Blunt, Michael Caine, Maggie Smith, Jason Statham, Ozzy Osbourne, Patrick Stewart, Julie Walters, Hulk Hogan, Dolly Parton). Anyway, to conclude, even though the whole thing had some potential, the end-result was rather disappointing and I donโ€™t think it is really worth a look.
