Review of Beware the Batman

THIS REVIEW MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS I will try not to spoil too much that is vital to the plot although if the characters mentioned are not a secret to the episode I will mention them without the spoilers bar. So you have been warned.

I just saw that this was made and never actually heard of it beforehand. This review will be for the first 7 episodes. I will do the other 6 in another review as I didn't realize it would be such a long review. The beginning credits are pretty cool mostly because red is my favorite color! The CGI is kind of awkward as the characters kind of look ridiculous, but the movements are well made I think. Some of the cast are pretty interesting such as Jason Marsden (Young Bruce Wayne), Kurtwood Smith (James Gordon), Tara Strong (Barbara Gordon), Matthew Lillard, James Remar, Adam Baldwin, Udo Kier, Grey Delisle, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Finola Hughes, and a few others common to voice acting. The guy who voices Batman doesn't seem familiar at all to me although he has been in a few things I have seen.

Episode 1 (Hunted): The fight scenes are a bit stiff and slow paced which is weird. The voice acting seems a bit out of place as well. Why does Alfred look so much like Lex Luthor? Also why does he look in his 40s and not his 60s like he is meant to be. The villains Mr. Toad and Professor Pyg in this episode are shall I say unique. They are however actual villains in the Batman universe and haven't been seen on-screen that much. Tatsu Yamashiro also makes an interesting appearance. 6/10

Episode 2 (Secrets): This is the first on-screen appearance by Magpie. She is also a real character in the Batman Universe. Lunkhead also makes a cameo and is a really bit character in the Batman Universe. They are both pretty unusual characters if you ask me. Whoever created this definitely did some digging to find characters that weren't common to the Batman on-screen shows/movies. The fighting is a bit more fluid in this episode which is good. This episode was pretty good and even had a nice twist. 8/10

Episode 3 (Tests): Now we have another comic villain who hasn't been showcased on screen yet until now. His name is Anarky and he has a bit more in the ways of the Batman Universe. Although his outfit in this really sucks as compared to the comics. If you were paying attention in the previous episode you will notice that the two henchmen in this episode had cameos briefly. Pretty cool interesting episode. 8/10

Episode 4 (Safe): This episode brings The League of Shadows into the mix which is pretty awesome. Lady Shiva is a well known villain, but Silver Monkey is the much lesser known character that appears in this episode. The agent looks like Agent Smith from The Matrix. This episode brings about some good new twists to the story. The plot is really thickening up.9/10

Episode 5 (Broken): Humpty Dumpty is the culprit in this episode. He is a little more well known than the others this series has introduced but had yet to appear on-screen. Tobias Whale also shows up as another of the Batman villains although slightly less known than Humpty Dumpty. Humpty Dumpty is uber creepy in this. Haha apparently the Batcomputer can be sarcastic too. I really liked this episode the best so far 10/10

Episode 6 (Toxic): This episode is cool as it has really well known character from the comics Metamorpho! Now Metamorpho is those people that is not a pure villain and is more a villain by pure accident. The real villain in this episode you will know as it isn't too hard to figure out. Okay I know it's Batman, but how the hell could he tell that it was freaking Rex Mason just by looking into his eyes?! The ending was interesting and pulls you in for more. 8/10

Episode 7 (Family): The League of Assassins arc returns to the scene in this episode. I can't help but think about Evil Monkey from Family Guy whenever I see the Silver Monkey. The story is getting really good. With each episode it gets more interesting and moves the plot forward. Lady Shiva is a badass villain. Also the ending of this episode gave me chills. 9/10

This show is actually pretty good if you give it a chance. I thought it would be lame as the trailer looked a bit pathetic in my opinion, but I found it worth checking out. I suggest checking it out regardless.
