I'm not really a big fan of country, but this was the only thing that I hadn't watch on the plane home from Ethiopia. Jeff Bridges, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Colin Farrell, and Robert Duvall star in this drunken film that needs to sober up. I am sure to many people this movie is pretty good, but I just couldn't get into it. Too much country music for my taste. The acting is great don't get me wrong, but if you aren't into country this definitely isn't for you. Yeah I know you will say why did you watch something that doesn't interest you. I would say you are absolutely right, but I love to watch movies even if I think it will be horrid. I do so just because of a thing called hope. I am hoping that maybe I will just so happen to find something interesting in it that I wouldn't have found out if I didn't at least give it a shot. It's kind of like watching Walk the Line or listening to Johnny Cash. I love Johnny Cash because he is good at what he does and makes his songs fun. I hate country music, but he makes it interesting to me. This film however didn't do for me what Johnny Cash does for me. It wasn't interesting to me. The only part of the plot that was interesting is that he is a major drunkard which you could use any variation of musician or out of work actor who just does signings at comic conventions and would be much more interesting to me. If you like country music and Jeff Bridges you would really enjoy this I think. If not then this won't be your cup of tea and you should avoid it.
