An average movie

This movie is the best example about why I often have a hard time with US thrillers. Indeed, this movie was a sequel involving Alex Cross following ‘Kiss the Girls’ which was not bad but this 2nd installment was seriously underwhelming. The point is that, like most US thrillers, the plot was not bad, the mood was actually quite nice but, as always, they completely messed up the ending with some rather lame twist. I mean, Morgan Freeman, as usual, gave a decent performance and really owned the character. Monica Potter was not too bad either and the directing was decent enough but the whole thing completely fell apart during the 3^rd act. Indeed, up to that point, it was nothing really amazing but it was still watchable but, then, they decided to make a complete U turn which was just ridiculous. Seriously, there is nothing more annoying then a thriller pretending to be smart when it is in fact really dumb. Concerning Alex Cross, they released another installment in 2012 called ‘Alex Cross’ with Tyler Perry as the title character and, apparently, it was even worse than this flick and it turned out to be a big flop at the box-office. Anyway, to conclude, I have seen worse but it was still a really weak thriller and it is worth a look only if you really like the genre.
