Jimi's last hurrah

This is one of my favorite Jimi Hendrix projects/albums. Here he teams up with Experience drummer Mitch Mitchell and Band Of Gypsys bassist Billy Cox. It's a bit of a turn from his previous work. There's less psychadelic experimentation and more funk. I say lay it on thick Jimi, and he does. Lots of great layering of riffs by Jimi here as well as shredding solos. it also has probably one of my favorite songs of all time: Hey Baby (New Rising Sun). If you're a big Jimi fan, don't stop at the Jimi Hendrix Experience releases, there's plenty more classic Jimi material out there, and this compilation is one of the best ones out there.
