I wrote something once called "Best Average Album", about this. I've also referred to "Fifth Dimension" being the better work; I'm not sure exactly, now.... I'll just have to juxtapose these two.... what, me? Contradiction?
It's just that.... it's just so damn much FUN listening to it. It's not like any of the individual songs seem *that* much better than average, nor is there anything that you can, I don't know, point to.... I don't know.
But, it's the arrangement of it, like I realized awhile ago. "What I mean: the most obvious example, 09. The Times They Are a-Changin 10. Wait And See 11. Oh! Susannah."
But, that's the thing-- in a way, an album IS arrangement, and, things like that, just make it, so, good.... and since it's SO good to listen to.... and more mellow than James Taylor, for God's sake, which isn't something you can say about *every* Byrds album, you know.....
