An average movie

I’m a huge fan of Marlon Brando. He was one of the best actors that ever lived but, still, after ‘Apocalypse now’, he didn’t do anything really amazing and all his movies were, at best, watchable but pretty often pure garbage, I’m afraid. This movie is supposed to be the exception though. Indeed, many viewers, including Roger Ebert himself, thought it was one fine feature and a great come-back for this thespian. However, I tend to respectfully disagree. I mean, Brando was indeed pretty good but the movie was rather lame if you ask me. Basically, it is one of those typical comedies where Matthew Broderick plays a clueless and spineless guy. It is rather funny that the guy got his breakthrough by portraying the coolest high-school teenager that ever lived (Ferris Bueller) but then spent the rest of his career playing the complete opposite. Roger Ebert was in awe of Brando’s talent when watching this flick but, even though I thought indeed that Marlon Brando was pretty good, I wouldn’t expect less, in my opinion, the whole plot and the movie itself was not really funny and just barely entertaining. To conclude, in my opinion, it was another disappointing modern feature starring the great Marlon Brando, it is not really worth a look, even if you are a fan of his work like I do.
