Resident Terrible

I enjoyed the first 45 minutes or so, but then the main character never stops being dumb, never really learns his lesson, never stops getting close to fuck up shit to inspect it, and was always forced to make a right decision by imminent danger, and then every new character is also pretty stupid, and so eventually it gets annoying. I was on board with the idea of him being normal, but that has to change somewhat cause otherwise it gets very tiresome, and the movie is never really funny enough for me to view every dumb thing as purely comedic.

I was actually going to make that defense, but it got too big.

People cannot shit all over crappy slashers and make jokes about how they are all stupid and deserve to die and that’s a big reason those movies suck, and then praise the same stuff here. There is no difference. Those scientists look like they were taken from a parody. Why allow him inside the lab? He might be… wait for it… Infected!!!

No idea why gun lady (Maxine) gets out of the car and goes to shoot some random people when she has the most important job of her life, the balance of the future of the city and possibly the whole world on her shoulders. There is zero reason beyond that it has to happen for the plot to move on.

Why does the first zombie lady leave mid-pursuit when she is clearly obsessed with him and goes to his car? Because that has to happen for him to shoot his car and make the plot move on. I allowed it there, but it was a sign of things to come.

Also, this whole “feel of the game” that Zack was talking about was a pure lie. The bullets thing NEVER MATTERS, he always gets another weapon with bullets and the only time it feels like it would matter (shooting the broom) he of course gets it, because it was building to that and so… well, it didn’t matter. He was never forced to escape, survive or win without bullets.

I went from smiling to just wanting it to be fucking over and now I hate it. What a massive disappointment. Fuck it! 2002 is maybe better than this, from what I remember. At least he released the thing on purpose...
