A very good movie

Seriously, Christopher Nolan really blew me away once again. This time, he took one of the most ancient tales and he still managed to give it such a fascinating spin (what’s next? The Bible?). Fortunately, I had the opportunity to see it in IMAX which made the whole thing so immersive and the craftsmanship behind this movie was just unparalleled. Basically, right now, nobody makes movies like he does, especially blockbusters which all seem to have been AI generated for years even before this technology will eventually probably take over this business. However, beyond the visual and the sensory spectacle, I was also fascinated by the depth of the emotions displayed. Indeed, even though it might seem like a grand adventure, it was actually dealing with the fall of a civilization, no less than that. I was also amazed how they handled the legendary Trojan horse trick, a tale I have seen time and time again and, yet, by choosing a more realistic gritty approach, it was just so intense and gripping. Above all, it was always considered as one of the smartest military strategies and it was here displayed as indeed being really effective once again but it was also displayed as being also terribly deceitful. Eventually, no one really won that day and it was something Odysseus was fully aware off but, after maybe a decade stuck in this war, they had to end it somehow and get back home. Eventually, even though Odysseus seemed wise, really cared for his men and didn’t seem to have much ambitions for himself, they actually all died during this journey which was also so tragic. I loved the fact that they kept mentioning some rumors about some mysterious 'sea people' attacking and destroying islands and villages but it actually turned out to be Odyssey and his crew after all. I was also moved by this bond between this father and his son, even though they haven’t known each other at all for 20 years, and it was especially emotional for me since I was sitting next to my beloved step-son, who has been in my life since 20 years. Eventually, the only part which didn’t really work for me was when he got stuck with Calypso. I mean, of course, it was completely understandable, who wouldn’t forget their wife and family while being stranded on a beach with Charlize Theron? Jokes aside, the guy did spend 7 years there but the only thing we saw was them wandering around on this beach but no much else and it did feel like a missed opportunity. On the other hand, so much stuff happened during Odysseus’s journey, there was no way that everything could have been so fully developed in less than 3 hrs. Anyway, to conclude, Noland delivered here another fascinating and super entertaining blockbuster and I can’t wait to see what he will do next.
