An average movie

To be honest, I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this flick but, since there was a decent cast involved and since it was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, it turned out to be obviously some kind of riff on ‘Single White Female’ which was not necessarily a bad idea, especially since Leighton Meester and Minka Kelly were some very famous lookalikes (it’s funny because they didn’t seem to look like each other at all after all in this movie though). Anyway, even if I didn’t expect much, the end-result was still such a boring cheap B feature after all. At least, there was a whole bunch of lovely ladies involved (Leighton Meester, Minka Kelly, Aly Michalka, Danneel Ackles, Nina Dobrev, Kat Graham) but it was probably the only positive thing about this movie. The first issue was that they never really established why Rebecca became so obsessed and possessive with Sara. It basically started right from the moment they met and the only explanation they provided was that, well, she was basically mentally deranged which was pretty weak. There were also a whole bunch of details which didn’t really work. For example, Minka Kelly was 30 years old when she made this movie and she didn’t look at all like a college student. It was also rather hilarious to have Cam Gigandet playing a (very) average boyfriend instead of his usual creeps. Of course, you could blame him for being terribly bland and boring but, to be fair, he wasn’t helped by the fact that he was provided so very little to do after all. On the other hand, Billy Zane did show up playing a slimy teacher which did fit more his profile but this sub-plot was just so half-baked and, above all, really uninteresting. Even more bewildering was how Aly Michalka’s character was attacked in the shower, actually knew who did it, and yet, simply decided to take her distance from Rebecca and Sara instead of reporting this aggression. It was also rather surprising how little was actually done with Maria, especially since she was played by Nina Dobrev, another famous young actress at the time. Anyway, to conclude, the damned thing was pretty lame, that’s for sure.
