I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this flick but, since I have a weak spot for Jamie Chung and Nina Dobrev and since it was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out. Basically, they mixed a classic whodunit with a high-school reunion which did sound actually pretty lame (they didn’t even try to come up with a slightly original title). Well, to be honest, even though I had some rather low expectations, I was surprised that the damned thing actually worked after all. I mean, sure, the cast was filled with B actors and they failed to probably explore the relationships between the characters, especially between Evan and Ray. Still, the plot was quite entertaining, the way it was solved at the end was also pretty neat and believable and the characters were all fairly entertaining, except for Vivian who was just too weird only to get some easy laughs. It was also one of these rare whodunits for which I actually figured out almost right away who was the killer. Well, 50% of it then. I mean, how could you guess that Lisa was involved when she showed up only 5 mins before the end? On the other hand, during the party and after they discovered Matthew’s body, there was something off about Evan’s behavior which tipped me off. I mean, during the party, everybody was getting hammered while he seemed to be sober and, the next day, he seemed to be way too passive regarding this murder compared to the rest of the group while he was actually a cop which was odd. I have to admit that I didn’t figure out how these murders took place and it’s a little bit too bad that they brought Lisa in the mix because it was then pretty much impossible to piece it together. Still, it all made sense which was pretty cool. It was also pretty wild how Evan and Ray were BFFs and ended up accusing each other but it’s too bad that they didn’t explore that at all. Anyway, to conclude, I have to admit that it turned out to be a decent surprise after all and I think it is worth a look, at least, if you like the genre.
