An average movie

I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this flick but, since there was a decent cast involved and since it was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out. To be honest, it didn’t look too good and it’s only afterwards that I discovered that Deon Taylor also directed the rather abysmal ‘Fatale’ and ‘Traffik’. First of all, the concept was already not really interesting from the start but, to make things worse, it’s also the kind of a movie which gives away the whole plot within the first 10 mins. By the way, it was a really d*ck move from their friend to just drop his cigarette like this in their garden. However, it was even more ridiculous that the bad guy would then manage to get into his car with the same cigarette or another one to burn a hole into one of the seats. Sure, this white dude had a super expensive Audi, something he seemingly cared more about than anything else, and he would leave the doors open when the car is parked in the middle of nowhere. It was more a small detail though. Concerning the cast, sure, I will have to admit that Michael Ealy is an attractive man but, unfortunately, he is also a terribly bland leading man. Concerning Dennis Quaid, in contrary to Ealy, he can be sometimes an interesting actor but I can’t decide if he was okay here or cartoonishly over-the-top (he wasn’t great, that’s for sure). Eventually, the only redeeming value in this bore fest was Meagan Good. In fact, her character was actually poorly written. One of the biggest issues with this movie was how Annie kept talking to Charlie and let him inside their house for way too long. His behavior was obviously seriously inappropriate even from the very beginning and, even though her husband was very vocal about it, she kept getting him inside which barely made sense whatsoever. However, Good was just so charismatic and really gorgeous, I actually didn’t care if pretty much everything her character did was completely plot-driven. I was also rather shocked by the ending. Indeed, from the very start, Scott was clearly 'anti-gun' and, yet, he did execute Charlie on the spot when he could have simply hand him over to the police. Seriously, this cheap movie didn't need to end up with such a vile ugly ending. Anyway, to conclude, it wasn’t even the worst movie I have seen directed by Deon Taylor (Indeed, ‘Traffik’ was even worse) but it was still pretty weak and you should probably avoid it.
