I wasn’t really expecting much from this flick but, since this sequel was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, to be honest, I’m not sure if it is more impressive or pathetic that DreamWorks did manage to launch a whole franchise from this material. I have to admit that I have absolutely no recollection from the previous installments (I will probably forget this one within a few days as well) but, for some reason, the story didn’t seem to be so bad this time around. I might have to do with the fact that I had such low expectations. Anyway, I thought it was actually a pretty good idea to focus on Branch looking for his estranged brothers to form again their mythic boyband. The fact that Branch was voiced by Justin Timberlake, himself a member of NSYNC at some point, made the whole thing pretty meta. Unfortunately, they should have only focused on this reunion because the whole reason why they had to get back together was so weak though. Basically, there were a couple of bad guys who wanted to be pop stars and, to reach this goal, they were using Trolls to suck their awesome juice but this approach was just so lame. Beside that, I don’t have really much to add. Seriously, I have seen 3 of these movies and I have still pretty much no clue of who the characters are, what they did previously and what they might be thinking about. At least, I was pretty tired, I didn’t want to focus too much on anything for 90 mins and this movie did the job. Anyway, to conclude, even if I have to admit that the damned thing was rather harmless, I still don’t care for this franchise at all and, hopefully, they will stop after this trilogy.
