An average movie

I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this flick but, since it was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out anyway. At least, I hoped it would be better than these abysmal live-action/animation hybrids with Bill Murray voicing the famous cat. Well, there is no doubt that going fully animated was the best way to go with this material but, to be honest, it was only slightly better which was rather disappointing since it was such a low bar to attain. While watching the damned thing, I was reminiscing about the comic-books I used to read when I was kid and, well, this movie had barely anything to do with it. Right from the lame introduction, I knew already it would be hopeless but it actually got worse afterwards. I mean, seriously, a heist feature during which Garfield was reunited with his lost father? What the hell? It literally had nothing to do with what the comic-book and the character was about. How interesting it would have been if they would have dared make a movie about a fat grumpy cat who doesn’t want to do anything except eating all day? Instead, they turned him into some lame action hero who teamed up with his father (by the way, what the hell happened to his mother then? How come she was never mentioned?). Concerning Mark Dindal, his previous movie was 20 years before and it was ‘Chicken Little’, still considered as one of the lowest points in the Disney animated features history so the guy didn’t exactly make an impressive come-back here. However, this movie did actually pretty well at the box-office so we will still get another sequel, also directed by Dindal apparently. Anyway, to conclude, even if I have to admit that it was rather harmless, it was still really lame and you should probably avoid it, especially if you are a fan of the laziest cat that ever lived.
