An average movie

I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this flick but, since there was a decent cast involved and since it was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, unfortunately, it did turn out to be another rather awful direct-to-VOD action flick. The funny thing is that it is the 2nd movie of this kind I have seen taking place only in a hospital (see also ‘Trauma Center’). Logistically, it is always convenient to shoot everything in one spot (which is not really exciting for the viewers) and I guess it must be cheap to shoot in some old hospital in some Hispanic country. Eventually, the story was terribly generic and barely interesting and/or entertaining but, for some reasons, I always had a huge weak spot for movies dealing with amnesia (‘The Bourne Identity’ is easily one of my favorite action flicks and ‘Memento’ is basically my all-time favorite movie) so this movie did manage to get some extra points only for that. Concerning Josh Duhamel, to be honest, he is a rather boring actor but I thought he was actually fairly convincing here and, above all, pretty bad*ss. Concerning Abbie Cornish, she was actually the main reason why I watched the damned thing and she was really charming as usual but, to be honest, her character didn’t make any sense at all. I mean, what was actually her relationship with Eddie? Why on Earth was she allowed to be in the room with Caine? In my opinion, the movie would have worked better if the main character didn’t have such a random useless sidekick (even if this one was really cute). Finally, what the hell happened to Nick Nolte? It seems that the years of heavy drinking have at last taken their toll on him. Even though he seemed to be perfectly suited for this part, he actually could barely speak normally. Anyway, to conclude, I think I was rather generous with my rating here, the damned thing was really weak and you should probably avoid it.
