I wasn’t expecting much from this flick but, since it was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out. In fact, I actually saw ‘The Boss Baby’ in the movie theater when it was released. Indeed, at the time, my youngest daughter was around 10 years old and she wanted to see the damned thing. Eventually, to be honest, I have to admit that I don’t remember this animated feature at all except that I thought that it was pretty lame. Unfortunately, DreamWorks don’t need much to launch franchises with one of their animated features and since it had been fairly successful at the box office, it was rather inevitable, I’m afraid. Anyway, I started to watch this sequel with the lowest expectations possible and, to my surprise, the beginning was actually not bad at all. Indeed, this time, Tim was all grown up and it was actually quite interesting to see him struggling with the fact that his own kid, Tabitha, was actually taking her distance from him. It is actually a natural process and I would expect something pretty deep like this more from Pixar and not from DreamWorks. Unfortunately, this intriguing approach was dropped pretty much immediately and, instead, they went for a completely daft plot involving the completely weird and tedious Baby Corp. What happened afterwards was just so messy and busy, it was probably one of the most ADHD inflected features I have ever seen. Above all, it was just all so boring to watch. To make things worse, it was also the longest movie ever delivered by DreamWorks animation. Seriously, there is no way that such a daft story needed to last almost 2 hrs. Anyway, to conclude, even if I have to admit that it was rather harmless, it was still a waste of time and you should probably avoid it.
