To be honest, I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this flick but, since there was a decent (voice) cast involved and since it was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, to my surprise, I have to admit that it was actually not bad at all after all. Too often I actually end up watching some random movies which were obviously not made for me at all (for example, yesterday, I watched ‘Spirit Untamed’ for crying out loud…). Well, with this movie, it was the other way around as it seemed that I was the perfect audience for it. Indeed, I never cared for the dog movies, fortunately, they came up here with a dark satirical version of this boring genre and I can’t believe how much fun the end-result actually was. Sure, it was really gimmicky as you get to see some dogs swearing all the time with the voices of such actors like Will Ferrell, Jamie Foxx and Isla Fisher and the movie had basically nothing else to offer. That’s in fact the whole issue with the genre. Indeed, you basically have some dogs looking cute but not much else (sometimes, they even narrate the story which was something they made fun of in this flick). To be honest, the pee and poop jokes were not great but, all in all, most of the jokes were actually quite funny though. The ending was also super wild and unhinged. I really didn’t expect them to go that far but, as far as I’m concerned, anything unexpected in such a predictable genre is usually welcome. I’m still not sure if I really needed to see this (albeit dreadful) owner getting molested by this pack of dogs though. Anyway, to conclude, even if it was not a masterpiece whatsoever, it was probably the most entertaining dog movie I have seen and I think it is worth a look but probably only if this genre always bored you to death like me.
