An average movie

To be honest, I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this flick but, since I have a weak spot for Abbey Hoes and since it was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, I do think that it did have some potential but, like most Dutch movies, the damned thing turned out to be rather disappointing after all. First of all, instead of trying to be original, they kept emulating the biggest clichés that you can find in US horror flicks. It was also so ridiculous that the action was taking place during a blizzard in the Ardennes. Indeed, there is barely any snow in this region in the winter, it’s not freaking Siberia! Concerning the cast, well, Abbey Hoes was as usual really cute but, to be honest, she wasn’t really good though. In fact, from the 4 girls involved, the only one who left an impression was Holly Mae Brood who was really charismatic but, unfortunately, her character was seemingly killed off way too early. Anyway, none of them was really interesting or entertaining enough and I might have cared more about them if they gave us at least a glimpse of their relationship before they went on this trip. Coming back on the story itself, even though some viewers might consider it a flaw, I was actually wondering where it was getting that through most of the duration but, since it didn’t care for any of the characters, it was still pretty tedious though. The twist ending was also really weak. Of course, it is another trope in the genre but it very often derails and/or diminishes everything that happened before and it was definitely the case here. Still, it was intriguing that, after everything that happened, Abby and Feline were still friends with Kim at the end, I have probably never seen this before, that the victims would still care so much about the perpetrator. However, the whole movie was never about Kim but about Pippa’s massive bitch/manipulative behavior so the whole idea was rather wasted. Anyway, to conclude, the damned thing was pretty weak and you should probably avoid it.
