I already saw this movie but, since it was a while back and since it was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out. To be honest, I wonder why I bothered rewatching this movie, especially since I didn’t like it at all the first time around. I guess I really have a weak spot for Jennifer Lopez. Anyway, even if it wasn’t the worst movie I have seen or even the worst movie starring Jennifer Lopez after all, I’m afraid it was still pretty weak though. Michael Apted can be a solid director but, unfortunately, he delivered here one of his weakest efforts. Furthermore, I don't think Jennifer Lopez is such a bad actress but I think she was rather miscast here. I mean, this woman seemed to be way too gorgeous and resourceful to end up working as a waitress. By the way, that’s something I never understood, while she was on the run, she didn’t seem to be working at all so how could she managed to finance all this? It seems that they half-explained that Jupiter (what a name, by the way...), her biological father, more or less sponsored her but it didn’t seem to be convincing at all. I also thought that the conclusion was dubious at best. Seriously, the basic idea was that, if you end up in a toxic/abusive relationship, the best way out would be to kill your partner and stage this murder as if it was self-defence. Seriously? It was also rather hilarious how, at the end, she was reunited with her daughter as if everything was peachy when, in fact, she just killed her father who was basically some major psycho. How will she manage to explain all this when her little girl grows up? At the end of the day, the main attraction was to see JLo kicking some guy's ass, that was it, and this movie had absolutely nothing else to deliver. Even this part didn’t really add up as it seemed that she got all trained up within 1 month maybe which would be way too short to reach some satisfying result. It’s too bad because women ending up in physically abusive relationships is still a very topical subject, even today, but I don’t think I have ever seen a Hollywood movie handling this subject properly. Anyway, to conclude, I still didn't like this movie, that’s for sure, and I don’t think is worth a look.
