An average movie

Since this movie had a seriously lame reputation, I had obviously some rather low expectations but, since it was starring John Travolta, I thought I might as well check it out anyway. Well, even though the movie was completely eviscerated by the critics when it was released, to be honest, I don’t think it was the worst movie ever, hell, it wasn’t even John Travolta’s worst movie (which is actually an argument that he makes very often some rather poor choices). Was it a good movie though? Of course not. The damned thing was vile and nihilistic but, in my opinion, it was better than all these awful direct-to-VOD action flicks starring Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone or Travolta himself. On top of that, even though many thought John Travolta was bad, I thought his performance was solid here. I mean, it was probably one of the saddest characters I have ever seen, Fred Durst apparently argued that the guy was supposed to be ‘loveable’ but it wasn’t the case at all as he was constantly cringe-inducing to behold. Concerning the rest of the movie, it actually had some potential but it was certainly poorly developed. For starters, you wish they did get a more famous actor than Devon Sawa, a B list actor who felt like a cheap version of Mel Gibson. Furthermore, the only relationship Moose had was with some cute young journalist but it was never credible why she would spend her time and her energy on this guy. Finally, during the last 10 mins, they went so completely off the rails, it was seriously bonkers. Basically, this movie ended with this movie star up mutilating his stalker but, just 10 mins later, the cops showed to arrest him, not for what he did to Moose but because his dead maid was lying in his garden already for a couple of days. In the meantime, it was implied that Moose simply carried on with his life pretty much unfazed and, obviously, none of this made sense whatsoever. Anyway, to conclude, even if it wasn’t as bad as I expected it to be, it was still pretty weak and you should probably avoid it.
