An average movie

Before making all those big blockbusters and, in the process, very often pushing the envelope visually speaking, Robert Zemeckis made this rather modest comedy (as a matter of fact, it was his second directing feature). Many consider this flick an underrated and forgotten gem and even though I thought it was a decent effort, I can't say I was really blown away by the whole thing though. I mean, first of all, I have to admit there were many things to enjoy. Indeed, I really liked this idea of a 3rd rate user cars lot with some 3rd rather sellers and it was also nice to see Kurt Russell doing something else than his usual tough guys and he definitely gave a very good performances. So, I enjoyed most of it but it's too bad they didn't dare to make it even darker, even more cynical than what they made here. I mean, the whole thing honestly still remain rather harmless and, therefore, never reached its potential. Furthermore, the focus was gone towards the end when they unleashed a rather big boring action scene. Still, in spite of its flaws, it remains a wild and entertaining comedy and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
