Vinny...VINNY! You got a Joint?

Fuckin awesome movie. The Maniac himself Joe Spinell stars in this as a crazed wanna be movie director who travels all the way to the Cannes Film Festival to attempt to get his script approved and his dream of a movie put into motion. Stuck in a job that doesn't make him happy (been there!) Taxi cab driver Vinny Durand takes his obsession of film star Jana Bates to a another level when he up and travels to the international film festival to track her down and get his script approved. Never occurring to him that she might say no, let alone be completely scared of a man doing whatever it takes to have her star in his film. Throughout the festival, murders of members close to Jana begin disappearing; with their bodies showing up shortly after. Some think it's a publicity stunt just to push the horror genre and Bates Ex husband's career up a bit, but Ms. Bates saw her ex's body; or at least she think she did. Spinell's Character is similar to the Maniac in Lustig's Film from 1980; but the difference of plots and character backgrounds presents this as an entirely new movie. Spinell's own mother plays the role as mom, one of the cutest old ladies in an 80's film that i am aware of. Great film to see and enjoy throughout; with not too much guessing of what is happening and the obvious turns out to make a complete turn in the other direction. Recently re-released onto DVD from Troma entertainment, one of my best buys of a movie at any horror convention.

Jana Bates: I've seen enough fake blood to know the real thing when I see it.
