Honestly, beforehand, I wasn't really enthousiast about this flick. Indeed, I'm usually not a big of those costum dramas which always focus on how difficult the life can be for the rich and privileged class. Still, since the critics and ratings were pretty good, I was definitely eager to check it out. Eventually, I really enjoyed it. First of all, I have not the read the book and I'm pretty sure I haven't seen another movie adaptation before so basically, it was my first contact with this classic tale and I completely fell for this romance story and I cared about all the characters involved. I was also impressed by the settings, the costums and the directing which was even more amazing since it was Joe Wright's directing debut. Furthermore, was it possible to get a better cast than this ? Keira Knightley, Talulah Riley, Rosamund Pike, Jena Malone, Carey Mulligan , Donald Sutherland, Brenda Blethyn, Kelly Reilly and Matthew Macfadyen.... And they all gave some very good performances and I always read some comments about the fact that Colin Firth was the best Mr. Darcy ever but I couldn't tell since I haven't seen his version. Anyway, I thought it was really good and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
