I already saw this movie a few years ago but, back then, I was having a very bad day when I watched it so I thought I might check it again under better circumstances. Well, to be honest, even the second time around, I still had some trouble to focus on the damned thing. I guess it’s difficult for me to focus on a movie without any plot or dialogues. Still, it is such a beautiful title though and, in general, it turned out to be a really poetic short, that’s for sure, even if it was still missing something to really blow me away. It’s funny because, at some point, I watched several vintage shorts which were so much more abstract and wild than this one, as a result, it did seem to be more straightforward than I expected, even if it was quite beautiful to look at. Eventually, I think it was more impressionistic than actually abstract. At least, Nadia Sibirskaïa was a really intriguing and charismatic woman, no doubt about it, and these landscapes were striking as well but half of the duration was only about switching between her and these images which was rather repetitive and, to be honest, not really satisfying. I guess I might have to check it out again a 3rd time at some point to make up my mind about the damned thing. Anyway, to conclude, even if it didn’t completely work for me, it was still a decent watch though and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you are interested in such experimental vintage features.
