An average movie

To be honest, I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this flick but, since there was a decent cast involved, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, I'm afraid it turned out to be one of these movies that crashes and burns right away at the very beginning. Indeed, especially the acting and the dialogues were just so lame and my enthusiasm regarding the involvement of the lovely Katheryn Winnick dropped down pretty much right away as she was actually rather pathetic. So, I pretty much dreaded what would come next but, surprisingly enough, the following scene was actually not bad at all. That's the genius of such a fine actor like Tommy Lee Jones who just needs to show up, does his thing and then he manages to elevate the whole thing even if the material is actually rather worthless. It's too bad they didn't give him anything really interesting to do afterwards. Anyway, if you put aside the really lame intro, the concept (having a major batsh*t crazy conspiracy theorist investigating some possible conspiracy) actually had some potential. However, even if it was an intriguing starting point, which had been tackle by other movies before, how were they going to develop this? Well, even though it wasn’t a complete disaster, the end-result was never really convincing though. However, their biggest mistake was to reveal at the end that the main character was right after all, with some actual proofs on top of that. Indeed, the way they blurred the lines before this reveal was actually interesting and it seemed for a while more probable that the the guy had completely lost his sh*t and killed a bunch of innocent bystanders in the process. Unfortunately, by saying that he was right all along was such a misguided choice and, combined with the opening text, it was actually even slightly weird. Anyway, to conclude, I did give the damned thing some extra points because they came up with a decent concept but I'm afraid the end-result was still rather weak and I don't think it is really worth a look.
