I didn't have high expectations for this film to be honest. How can someone sit through an entire movie dedicated to male strippers, usually a cheesy display to say the least. Well, I'll tell you I thought this movie was great. There was an actual storyline and I found myself actually rooting for the guys and hoping that they would want to stay strippers instead of turning their lives around and getting "real" jobs.
The stripping is second to the storyline in the background involving Alex Pettyfer, Channing Tatum and Cody Horn. Cody and Alex play brother and sister and Channing's character helps Alex break into the business all the while falling for his sister. It's actually a cute story although I wish the role had gone to another actress, Cody was rather dull, not overly attractive and I wasn't actually sure I wanted her to have the happy ending with Channing.
Many movie goers were disappointed by the amount of drugs and alcohol in the movie but what do you expect, real strippers would be the same way, I'm sure. Not that I've actually met a stripper in real life, not to my knowledge anyway.
All in all, I have to say I will be purchasing the DVD when it comes out, a huge rarity for me. Some of the dance scenes were cheesy and cringe inducing but Channing Tatum (who I was not a huge fan of before seeing the movie) did an AMAZING job, I'm pretty sure if male strippers all danced like this then business would be booming. Joe Manganeillo is adorable and funny and I loved seeing Kevin Nash fumble his way through dance routines and I'm still not sure if that was the actor or the character. Women, this is a must see!
